Every Stormlight output figure is measured at operating temperature and held across the rated runtime — not a peak in the first seconds before the heat catches up. The PRO 3100 delivers 3,150 lumens for a full 90 minutes at maximum, without the quiet throttle curves that cut most headlamps to a fraction of the number on the box.

Zero-flicker constant-current driving at every level: no pulsing, no eye fatigue on long operations, and video documentation shot under its light shows no rolling bands.

02 — 62 grams on the head

62 grams. The lightest in its class.

The lamp head is the entire optical and electronic package — four LEDs, four-lens optics, driver board, aluminum housing — and it weighs 62 grams. Over a 12-hour shift, that is the difference between a lamp you forget and a lamp you fight.

The 190-gram battery pack clicks onto the back of the headband for balance, or drops into a jacket pocket on the cable when the cold bites and you want the cells against your body.

A four-lens optical system spreads the output into a wide, even field with no hot spot and no tunnel vision. You see the whole pen, the whole pole top, the whole trail ahead — and the edges of your vision, where things go wrong — without adjusting anything.

04 — Charge while you work

Plug in a power bank. Keep going.

A USB-C port on the battery pack. Any phone charger works; a 45 W charger fills the 6,000 mAh pack in about 90 minutes. Plug a power bank in during operation and the lamp runs indefinitely.

The same port charges your phone, GPS or radio from the pack. On a shift that runs long, or an operation that stretches past expected duration, the lamp stops being just a lamp and becomes part of your energy system.

A note on cold weather.

Lithium cells lose capacity in extreme cold. Every headlamp on the market does. What matters is whether the lamp still does the job when the temperature drops.

The PRO 3100 gives you the choice: the battery pack clicks off the headband and rides in an inside jacket pocket on the cable, against your body, where the cells stay warm enough to deliver close to their rated output. Sixty-two grams stays on your head; the cold-sensitive part goes where you're warm.

The battery indicator sits on the pack itself, so you can check remaining charge without taking the lamp off.

Where the PRO 3100 Earns Its Keep.

Aquaculture

A fish farm in Northern Norway in December: the light is gone by early afternoon and the work carries on across open water, in weather, until the shift ends. The PRO 3100 lights a whole pen from the walkway, keeps a wide beam on nets, ropes and feeding systems without a hot spot on the water, and holds 3,150 lumens when you need to see what a camera can't.

Line work & grid maintenance

Reading a whole pole from the ground, a whole span between towers, a substation yard in the dark — and then close work on the hardware with the same lamp. The four-lens beam covers the site; the five levels take you from 3,150 lumens down to steady work light without touching a switch twice.

Click-release moves the lamp to a hard hat in seconds. Zero-flicker driver, so the light is steady on documentation video. Every part replaceable in the field with a T5 Torx.

Maintenance runs, patrol, reindeer herding, access between sites on four wheels or a sled. A vehicle light stays with the vehicle; the PRO 3100 goes where you go, reads the trail ahead at working pace, and is still on your head when you step off to do the job.

Search and rescue & tracking

A search starts when the light goes. Sectors get covered on foot, in whatever weather is on offer, for as long as it takes. The PRO 3100 gives you 3,150 lumens to sweep a slope or a shoreline, a beam wide enough to read disturbed ground and a track at your feet, and a head that is still comfortable in the tenth hour.

When the search settles into a rotation, eco runs 40 hours on the pack — through a second night at a staging point without a charge. The pack doubles as a powerbank for the radio and the GPS.

Click-release on the headband

Same as every other PRO model. Click the lamp off, onto a helmet mount, onto a bar or chest mount, onto any Stormlight accessory. Seconds, no tools.

Battery pack — on the head or in the pocket

The 190-gram pack clicks onto the rear of the 3100 headband, balancing the lamp head so nothing pulls forward. When the temperature drops, click it off, drop it into an inside pocket on the cable, and let your body keep the cells warm. Same pack, two positions, no tools.

The cable is a separate user-replaceable part. A long cable for routing through layered winter gear is available as an accessory.

Stormlight's four-prong mount

Our own click-release design. Four prongs, deliberate press to release. Built to stay attached through vibration, impact and cold — the failure modes that eventually break cheaper mount systems. Every Stormlight accessory uses the same standard.

GoPro-compatible as well

The lamp head also accepts any standard GoPro mount, so whatever you already own works out of the box.

Charging, three ways

USB-C on the battery pack charges the lamp directly. Any phone charger works. With a 45 W fast charger, the 6,000 mAh pack reaches 100% in about 90 minutes.

The lamp charges while in use: plug a power bank into the pack during operation and it runs indefinitely. And the pack is a powerbank itself — USB-C out to phone, GPS or radio.

You won't find a USB-C charging cable in the box. We've chosen to leave it out since most of us already own several. Producing and shipping another one when yours works perfectly well is the kind of small decision that adds up. Every cable we don't make is one less in the world's drawers.

The questions we get most often — answered straight, no marketing language.

What does "real lumens" mean on this spec sheet?

It means the number is measured after the LEDs have reached operating temperature and the cooling is in steady state — not in the first seconds after switch-on, before the heat catches up. And it means the number is held across the rated runtime at full power, not a peak that fades in the first minutes.

For the PRO 3100: 3,150 lumens, 90 minutes. When the pack runs low the lamp warns you and steps down to eco rather than going dark. You always know where you stand.

Why is the battery separate from the lamp head?

Two reasons. Weight: 62 grams on the forehead is something you forget about over a 12-hour shift; 250 grams is not. Cold: lithium cells lose capacity below roughly −10°C, and every battery on the market does. With the pack on a cable you can move it into an inside pocket where your body heat keeps the cells delivering close to rated output.

On the headband, the pack clicks onto the rear mount and balances the lamp head. In the pocket, it rides on the cable. Same pack, two positions, no tools.

What does the beam pattern actually look like — flood or spot?

Wide, even flood — not a tunnel-vision spot. The four-lens optical system spreads the output across a broad field with no hot centre and no dead zones at the edges of your peripheral vision.

This is deliberate. On a walkway, on a pole, on a trail: you need to see what is at the edges of your vision, not only what is directly ahead. A spot beam would be blinding in the centre and useless to the sides.

Will it flicker on video?

No. The PRO 3100 uses a DC constant-current driver at every level, not pulse-width modulation. There is no strobe, no rolling bands and no banding in footage — which matters for documentation video on site, body cameras and inspection footage. It is also easier on the eyes over a long night.

How does it actually perform in the cold?

Operating range is −25°C to +60°C. The aluminum housing handles cold without issue — the question is the battery, and the answer is the pocket. In deep cold, click the pack off the headband, drop it into an inside pocket on the cable, and you get the rated output instead of a derated number you didn't expect.

This is how a high-output headlamp works honestly in real winter conditions. We built the system around it instead of pretending otherwise.

What's the difference between PRO 3100 and SPORT 3100?

Same lamp head, same optics, same battery pack, same runtime. The differences are the colorway and the channel. PRO comes with a black headband with white Stormlight text and is sold with fleet pricing, dealer support and a professional service framework. SPORT carries the yellow Stormlight branding and is sold as a consumer product.

Pick PRO if the lamp is a tool you depend on for paid work. Pick SPORT for personal sport, recreation and adventure.

When should I choose the PRO 9000 instead?

When the work happens at speed or across distance: snowmobile, ATV, sweeping a valley from a ridge. The 9000 throws three times the light, at the cost of a heavier head and a larger pack you wear on the vest. How does the repair service work in practice?

Email us with what's wrong. We send you the replacement part with simple instructions. Most repairs take under five minutes with a T5 Torx driver; the battery pack and cable need no tools at all.

If the failure is something you don't want to handle yourself, you ship the lamp to us and we handle it. No service-centre network, no authorised repair shops. One channel, direct.

Can I use a different mount than the one in the box?

Yes. The lamp head has GoPro-compatible feet built in, so any standard GoPro mount — helmet adapter, handlebar mount, chest rig — works out of the box. Our own four-prong click-release fits every Stormlight accessory.

Is the battery pack airline-safe?

Yes, in carry-on. The 2-cell pack (2× 21700, 6,000 mAh at 7.4 V) works out to about 44 Wh, well under the 100 Wh limit for lithium-ion batteries in cabin baggage on every major airline. Always pack it in your carry-on, never in checked luggage.

How long does shipping take, and what about customs?
